(Years Seven to Eleven)

Main School pupilsAt age eleven, new entrants from local primary and preparatory schools join pupils moving up from the Junior School.  English, Mathematics, French and Science form the subject core from Year Seven through to GCSE, supported by a range of optional subjects chosen from languages, humanities, art and technology.  Sport, travel, the arts and other extra-curricular activities contribute to the social as well as the intellectual development of each pupil in the school.

Year 7 pupils study English, French, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Art, Music, Drama, CDT and Information Studies, with PE and Games.  German is introduced in Year 8 and a programme of Personal, Social Design & technology class and Health Education runs to Year 9.  Latin is available as an additional early evening class starting from Year 7 through to GCSE.

At the end of Year 9, pupils select the subjects they wish to study for GCSE.  Three optional subjects are normally added to the core of English, English Literature, Mathematics, French and the Sciences , taught separately and examined either as a double award or as separate subjects.  Twilight (early evening) Music and Drama & Theatre Studies are also available.
