Peter Large scholarship winners Maia and Cecily recently returned from overseas for their final year with us at Thetford Grammar School.
The two young ladies had thoroughly enjoyed teaching english for two weeks in Bali.
“It was unforgettable” said Maia “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity given to us by the school. Everyone was so friendly and it ended up being the best experience of my life so far! Seeing the children’s eyes light up was unforgettable.”
Cecily added “The scholarship enabled us to go out of our comfort zone – the scariest bit was being so far away from home but the best bit was the difference we made to the children’s lives. At weekends we traveled and saw monkey forests, climbed mountains, visited temples and waterfalls. We didn’t want to come home. We hope our story inspires others to get out there and experience the world first hand.”
Both ladies agreed that the trip had motivated them and they are now planning to go to Vietnam next summer after their A-Level exams.
