Our Year 12 and 13 Mathematicians took part in the Senior UKMT Maths Challenge this Tuesday.
They were part of 82,000 students who all sat the paper on the same day across the country.
As usual, the questions were challenging but all persevered and showed great resilience.
When it was time for the results, we were delighted with how well our students did.
Out of the 9 that participated 7 qualified for a certificate:
Henry 106 Best in School, best in Year 12, Gold
Jacob 89 Best in Year 13, Gold
Matthew 79 Silver
Daniel 70 Bronze
Brynmor 70 Bronze
Ellie 67 Bronze
Max 58 Bronze
Even more amazing was that two of our students qualified for the follow-on rounds.
Jacob was one of 6,000 participants who qualified for the Senior Kangaroo paper which is an hour long paper with 25 questions.
Henry qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad putting him in the top 1.2% of all who took part in the competition. The paper consisted of 6 questions which were to be answered in 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Both students felt confident with their efforts. We are therefore eagerly awaiting their results in January.
The Maths department would like to congratulate all of the participants. We are so very proud of your achievements.
