A team of talented Year 8 and 9 Mathematicians recently participated in a Maths event at the Nicholas Hamond Academy in Swaffham.
The challenge consisted of four rounds: the first was a whole team challenge, with ten questions. In the second round, they had to solve a mathematical crossword being split into two separate smaller teams, one team answering the across clues and the other solving the down clues; this proved to be a challenging round for the team, but they demonstrated good communication, placing themselves high up on the leader board. Following a lunch break, they participated in the shuttle round, where the answer to the previous question was required to help solve the next. To conclude the event, there was a timed relay round, where the pairs had to run to give the others the next question, which they could only acquire after solving their own.
Overall, the team performed well, proving their mathematical prowess whilst improving their team skills, achieving a phenomenal result of 3rd, out of the seventeen teams competing!
Congratulations to all of the team, and thank you to Mr Braden, who helped organise the event and supported the team throughout.
